WOW!!!! What an amazing start to the season…the Keystone Jrs. U-14 Premier team took 1st Place in the Open Division at the MLK Kickoff Classic. There were two U-14 divisions (Open and National) with over 70 total teams participating. After 9 matches, 22 sets and outscoring the opponents 483-368 over the course of the entire weekend, the girls were crowned Open Division CHAMPIONS!!!!

On day one Keystone Jrs. U-14 took 1st place in pool play with wins against DE United 14 Navy (25-22, 25-15), CJVA 14 White (14-25, 25-9, 15-7), and CALI 14 Black (25-9, 25-14). Day two the team took 2nd place in pool with wins against DE United 14 Lime (25-16, 20-25 15-11), CJVA 14 Black (25-15, 25-12), and a loss to DE Juniors 14 ACE (18-25, 25-16, 15-12). Even with one loss Keystone Jrs. U-14 earned a spot in the Gold Bracket playoff.

In playoffs the Keystone Jrs. girls defeated DE United 14 Navy (25-23, 25-17) and GPS Crush (25-21, 25-13). The rematch in the championship game was much anticipated and very exciting, with Keystone Juniors U-14 Premier defeating DE Juniors 14 ACE (24-26, 25-19, 15-11).

This is a tournament where every point, every set, every match matters, and it was a total team effort throughout the entire weekend. Highlights include:

Setters Sammi Chambers, Lindsey Fagan, and Ireland Giaquinto combined for 114 assists. Offensively, our outside hitters (OH) Olivia Bertoline and Lauren Garvey combined for over 42 kills on the weekend. Middle Blockers (MB) Sara McDougall, Gabby McGinn, and Riley Shaak combined for 96 kills. MB Riley Shaak also racked up a team high 15 solo blocks. Defensively, liberos Emily Collins and Maddie Donaphon combined for 75 digs. The team also served up 70 aces throughout the tournament.

The Keystone Juniors U-14 Premier team is looking forward to their next tournament on Sunday, January 31st.
