And they Win Another ...

Keystone Juniors 13 Black won their 3rd Gold medal of the club season bringing their season total to 4 medals.  We visited the home of the Marauders at Millersville University this past Saturday.  We found ourselves in the more competitive pool but were able to finish in 1st place after going 2-1 during pool play defeating Sparks Blue and Upward Stars (Delaware).  Sparks Blue finished 2nd but not before putting intense pressure on Keystone as it took 32 points for our girls to become victorious in one set.

Keystone 13s put up a very solid team effort throughout the day as everyone found a way to contribute.  They had outstanding play from their setters, key defensive blocks from their front row, and consistent defense from their Libero and DS.

They were led by Setter Annie Corcoran who had 15 kills, 16 Aces and 25 Assists.  Annie had 7 of her kills in the Finals as she spent some of her rotations as our Outside Hitter when she moved to the front row.  Setter Leighton Egan was the reason Annie was able to get those kills as Leighton finished the day with 26 Assists and had a really strong performance in the Finals.

We played Spooky Nook in the Semi Finals and won in straight sets but not without a little nail biting as we won Set 2 by the score of 27-25.

Sparks Blue was able to defeat the Number 1 seed in the other Pool setting up a rematch with our Keystone Juniors in the Finals.  But our girls paced both sets with strong serving, great blocking and great defense.  Caroline Kirsch had 3 of her 5 Blocks in the Finals as she also had 10 Kills on the day.  Ciara Julien also had 2 Blocks in the Finals (4 total) while contributing for a total of 6 kills on the day.   Vanessa Mancini also had a block and a kill in the finals as our front row really made it tough for Sparks hitters to get anything going offensively.

Payton Holdsworth had her best serving of the season as she was able to hold a lengthy serve in both sets opening up our lead and pacing us to easy victories.  Julia Richter and Molly Mishinkash both had 8 Kills on the day as they are becoming two of our most consistent front row hitters.  Their hitting efficiency helps give us an edge every set.  But none of this could be possible without our defensive back row as Libero Julia Riley (52 digs, 6 aces and 3 kills), DS Aislin Oneill (27 digs, 2 Aces, 1 Kills) and Payton Holdsworth (25 digs, 4 Aces and 2 kills) were a very big part of our Quest for our 4th Medal and 3rd Gold of the Season.  Congratulations girls!  #KeystoneJuniors13sProud #keystonejuniors proud
