The 14 Carolina team showed adaptability and perseverance today when a combination of the flu and injuries forced them to play as a team of 6 at the NVA Winter Blast. After going 7-1 in pool play, Sellers, Richter, Cronin, Kennedy, Carey and Kuhn, advanced to the playoffs as the 2nd seed and beat NVA Green 26-24 and 25-22. A bystander commented, “This was not a team that could ever be counted out,” because of the way they never gave up and worked together to earn their spot in the championship match. They fell to NVA White in 2 sets but won their 2nd silver medal of the season (the team’s first silver was in the bronze bracket at MLK).  Proud was an understatement as coaches and parents watched each player step up without hesitation. Watch out for a healthy/full team later this season!
