After tying for 3rd place at their first tournament, the Keystone Juniors U-12 Premier coaches set a goal to earn a spot in the finals at the next one. The U-12’s surpassed that goal and won the whole thing…they went home with the GOLD medal!!  It was truly a team effort, as every point mattered since they tied for 1st place in pool play (they came out on top based on points).   The U-12’s defeated TEVA in the semi-finals (2-1) and Sparks in the finals (2-1). Setters, Lindsey Fagan, Ireland Giaquinto, and Gia D’Antonio led the offense, recording a combined 30 assists.  Hitters, Sara McDougall, Gabby McGinn, Olivia Bertoline, Grace Clark and Hailey Blum combined for 35 kills. Brynn Pippett, primarily a defensive specialist, even recorded her first kill, after breaking her wrist in an early season practice.  Libero, Emily Collins, led the defense with 15 digs and was instrumental on serve receive and free ball passing.  Ireland Giaquinto also recorded 15 digs.  The U-12’s served 115 aces throughout the tournament. Sara McDougall led this effort with 35 aces, while Gia D’Antonio recorded 34.  An extra shout out goes to Grace Clark who recorded 7 aces (in a row).  The U-12’s Premier team continues to work hard, learning all facets of the game and making every effort to pass, set, and hit!!
