Keystone 13 Premier - Take Silver

Caye Pazulski, Madison Weigand and Gianna Napoleon were a trio of trouble for their opponents as each of them were dominant from the serving line.  Their consistency helped our Juniors remain undefeated throughout pool play and earn a number 1 seed going into the playoffs.  Isabel Criscuolo and Caye Pazulski combined for a total of 14 kills while Criscuolo also added 4 blocks.  Gianna Napoleon also added 4 kills.  Defensively, they were lead by Amanda McTaggart who had 19 digs on the afternoon.  Amanda had the crowd on its feet after her incredible pancake dig reached high enough for setter Erica DiCarlo to get underneath for an assist to OH Napoleon for one of her kills.  McTaggart's stellar defensive play was ranked 2nd on this weekend's ESPN plays of the week behind only to April Ross as she played at the Maui Invitational this past weekend.

The Juniors advanced into the playoffs and met  2nd seed Spooky Nook Black in the semi finals.  The Nook proved to be a tough challenge for Keystone as our Juniors found themselves trailing set #1 by the score of 24-21.  Coach Keir called a timeout and outlined the plan of attack for the girls.  "I told the girls who our next server was", said Coach Keir. "I told them that Gianna was our next server and that we had to do whatever it takes to not let that ball drop on our side of the court, because anything can happen if we give Gianna a chance to serve."  It was alot of pressure to put on one player.  But the Juniors bought into the idea and Napoleon answered the call as the Juniors won set #1 by the score of 26-24.  "Gianna showed an impressive amount of maturity in that spot", said Coach Keir.  "We needed her to pick up the team and lead us to victory and the girls rallied around her!"  Our Juniors lost set #2 but won convincingly in set #3 by the score of 15-7 to advance to the Championship.  They fell in defeat in the Finals to Club Integrity in straight sets but were awarded their second silver medals in only 3 tournaments!  Congratulations again to our Keystone Juniors 13s!
