Keystone 17 Premier Find Gold On Saint Patrick’s Day Weekend…

Going into the weekend with a short staff due to injuries, every player stepped up to bring home the gold medal.

Dana Keir and Sophia D’Angelo dominated at the net hammering down point after point.

Sofia Schena who was cast into the libero position so suddenly, was a key anchor to our defense. She passed ball after ball perfectly to allow our offense to work.

The setters Ryan Murrin and Alexis Orvieto ran the offense with much precision.

Our trio of hitters: Kailyn McNamee, Jessica Larkin, and Emily Urban became more dominant as the day went on.

With the support of an injured Samantha Schreiber, the team went 2-0 against Maryland Juniors 17 Regional Black (25-23, 25-14). The second match of the day was a win against Eastern Shore Elite (25-16, 25-23). The third match of the day put us up against Time Out 17 Black Venom, who we came out with a 2-0 win over (25-17, 25-20).

We were then 6-0 heading into the gold medal match against the also undefeated Maryland Juniors 17 Open Black. What a match this turned out to be. After losing the first set 19-25, the girls really dug deep to win the second set 25-21. It all came down to the last 15 point set to decide who would win the gold medal. Being down 5-7, Alexis Orvieto took over with some tough serves, serving us back into the lead at 10-7. After losing a tough point, the girls bounced right back and got the ball back for Kailyn McNamee to serve the game to a 15-8 victory.
